My understanding is that with a campus project, the bike racks simply need to be located within the campus (or 200' from the campus). Is that correct? There are 8 buildings + 2 parking structures on my campus; some of the buildings are even more than 200' long.
We'd like to provide one center for bike storage in the campus, but it will be more than 200' away from the rest of the buildings. Can you confirm this is allowed? Thanks.

Stacey -
Some good news: the distance is 200 yards, not 200 feet. That might help.
Now the bad: The LEED Campus Guidance (appendix A) states that all LEED projects within a Master Site or Group Certification must have an appropriate number of racks within 200 yards of EACH building entrance. Depending on the campus size, this might be distributed or centralized, and on or off site, but always within 200 yards of the building entrances. In your case, the building farther than 200 yards wouldn't be able to utilize the master site credit for their certification.
I hope that clears things up.

Hi - sorry about the feet vs yard confusion, and thank you for your reply.
Many of our buildings are over 200 yards / 600' in length, and given the orientation of the campus, it is not possible to provide distributed storage adequate to accomodate the number of bicycle storage required.
However, a centralized location can be provided, including showering facilities. Given that, have you seen any alternate forms of compliance successfully accepted for similar situations? We will also be providing a comprehenisive biking program, including guides for the adjacent mountain trails which people can bike through for exercise.
Thanks,
