Has anybody proposed eliminating showers and / or long-term bike storage in a building with no FTE? We're renovating a small wood-frame classroom building with 8 classrooms. There are no offices and nobody is expected to be at the building longer than a single class length. The reference guide states 4 long term bike storage spaces and 1 shower are the minimums, but also clearly indicates they are meant for FTE's. Long term bike storage and shower / locker rooms aren't appropriate for this building even if the space was available. It isn't regularly accessible beyond scheduled class times and students / faculty aren't encouraged to "hang out" before or after classes. We could also look at this credit campus wide, but would prefer not to as that is outside of our project scope. We are increasing short-term bike storage for our project based on user surveys in addition to LEED.
