"Borrowed Light Simulation" for LEED design review

We received a comment on interior spaces that are using "borrowed light" from interior glass doors, sidelights and transoms. We used a glazing factor calculation designed for simple geometries and provided default data to support a simplified analysis. LEED is asking for a more detailed analysis, a daylight simulation or light measurements to meet requirements of this credit. Not having a simulation in our office - can anyone provide advice for a free or economical simulation software? or any other solutions

I would recommend SPOT, Sensor Placement Optimization Tool. Its free for download http://www.daylightinginnovations.com/spot-home. The learning curve is not that bad. The other option is to wait till it is built and take measurements. Remember, you can combine options, so for your spaces that do not have borrowed light, you can still use the prescriptive method, (Glazing Factor is for v2.2) and then only run simulations for the spaces with borrowed light.
