Hello! I have a LEED NC project that is already operating and we are now finishing DR+CR submittals. The client provided the required spaces for bike racks and showers as required by LEED, but, in practice, these bicycle-parking spaces are being used for motorcycle aswell.
The project its a little bit isolated form the city and not very well conected in terms of transportation. In photos and satelite views of the project this situation it can also be seen and we are worried of losing this points since the client has indeed provided this facility, although its not used very often...Whats the solution? Forbide the usage of these spaces by motorcycles? Or shared usage is permitted in such case?

Hi Karyn,
The credit is for designing/building sufficient bike storage, so you've earned the credit by providing it, and reviewers should not be looking at satellite photos to verify how it's being used.
How the parking is operated/enforced is up to the building management. It sounds like right now the area can accommodate both bicycles and motorcycles, and maybe in the future they'll have higher bicycle usage and need to reserve the parking area or add an expansion for motorcycles. The intent of the credit is to provide high quality bike facilities that encourage bicycle commuting, so it's worth keeping an eye on to make sure cyclists aren't crowded out by other parking users.
