Next to our project there is a city network of bicycle paths (marked lanes on a pavement) leading to many diverse uses and rapid transit stops. The Investor is also planning to provide appropriate bicycle racks and shower facilities. The only problem is that the city bicycle network is 2m wide while the requirement of this credit is a bicycle path at least 2.5m wide. It is not possible to make the paths wider because they were made by the city authorities. Would a Europe Alternative Compliance Path apply here even though the project is not located in a historic district? Would an explanation confiming that the bicycle paths are safe because they are not used by cars be accepted?

Please kindly refer to LEED CSv4 credit library for bicycle facilities in Europe ACP Bike Path Width section below:
https://www.usgbc.org/credits/new-construction-core-and-shell-hospitality-new-construction-data-centers-new-construction-0?return=/credits/Core%20and%20Shell/v4
Based on this section, this exception is specific for the project that cannot meet bike path width requirement due to the historic urban context of the project site. In addition, there is no written information visible in the addenda or other guide references that facilitate this.
So, if the Europe project is not in historic urban location, then it must meet width credit's requirement as requested on LEED.
