Hi All,
I have a doubt regarding ASHRAE 90.1-2010 section 9.4.1.2a – “Space Control: The controlled lighting shall have at least one control step between 30% and 70% of full lighting power in addition to all off”.
So, should the manual control device have dimming control to meet requirement of additional control step between 30% to 70%.
Or alternatively, can the light fixtures in the space can be wired to control by 2 switches with only on/off control. Please clarify if this option meets the requirement of ASHRAE section 9.4.1.2a.
Thanks in Advance.

No this does not require dimming. A step is an incremental setting. This is often achieved by turning a portion of the fixture on and then the rest of the fixture on.
No it must be more than on/off.

Hi, I'm confused about the comment above. Would using two light switches comply as per the first comment above ? Therefore with only 1 bank of lights switched on the lighting would be at 50% of full output for the room.

Yes I think so.
I see your confusion. When i said it must be on/off I was assuming all the lights were controlled by one switch.
