I am working on the LEED documentation for SSc7.1 for a softball stadium. The infield is clay and the outfield is artificial turf. I am assuming that neither of them meet the required SRI to count towards achieving the credit. However, is the artificial turf and clay actually considered hardscape? Do we count it at all within this credit?

Hi Marina,
The LEEDv4 reference guide states that Artificial turf does not count as hardscape. I assume that this will be applicable to LEEDv2009 projects as well, and hence that area can be excluded from the credit.

Marina, what happened with this credit and the artificial turf? I have had conversations with USGBC and they have said that artificial turf would be counted as hardscape. Based on Ashwini's comment, it sounds like this has changed in LEEDv4?
