NC-v4.1 EQc2:Low-Emitting Materials

Are Materials Installed in the Loading Bay Subject to the Low-Emitting Material Requirements?

Hello,

Are materials used in loading bays required to be submitted under the low-emitting materials credit?

For our project, the loading bay is accessed through a garage door and is used exclusively for truck access to the loading dock and the garbage chute. This space is not intended for regular occupancy, and it is physically isolated from the interior occupied spaces of the building. In addition, the building’s HVAC system does not serve the loading bay - this space is only exhausted and not connected to the HVAC system that servers the conditioned areas of the building.

I would expect all materials normally required to be included within the building enclosure to be included in the bays. Thsi applies to spaces that are not regularly occupied as well as those regularly occupied. I know of no exception that would apply.  However, you can always make a case and request and exception if you feel you have reasonable justification to exclude this.
