We are looking to pursue an HPD for our product(s) but I am unsure if we need the HPD to be 3rd party certified. I see a couple of my competitors with self-published HPDs and I cannot see in LEED v4 where there is any point contribution variation between self-published and 3rd party certified HPDs. I am sure that a 3rd party certified HPD would carry more weight with the design community but does it matter with regards to LEED v4?

Dick, there is no requirement that the HPD be third-party verified. In fact, the HPD Collaborative has not yet released a standard for what would be verified by a third party in the first place. This is one reason why it's not required by LEED.
