Are Fire Sprinkler's Exempt?

I have read that fire sprinkler systems are not addressed in LEED rating systems - does this also mean that a thread sealing paste used on the sprinkler piping does not need to comply to VOC limits for LEED?

Tim, fire sprinkler systems are addressed in LEED, and products related to those systems inside the weatherproofing barrier and applied on site definitely need to comply with appropriate VOC requirements. Fire suppression systems are also addressed in EAc4. Your sources are probably referencing credits MRc3-7. They require you to exclude fire sprinkler systems from the calculations -- in those credits sprinkler systems follow the same requirements as MEP equipment.
