The technical advice is like this:
The floor plans for PIf4 indicate that the project includes unisex restrooms that do not contain urinals. The calculations in the form automatically assume that 100% of male occupants will use restrooms that contain urinals. As a percentage of male occupants will not have access to or will not be expected to use restrooms with urinals, the default total daily uses for water closets, as well as the dual-flush water closet weighted average flush rate, and urinals must be adjusted in the form accordingly. Provide a narrative and supporting daily use calculations to explain the anticipated urinal usage. Revise the form to ensure that the total daily uses column for the water closets and urinals, as well as the dual-flush water closet weighted average flush rate, has been modified appropriately.
Is it reasonable to suppose like this:
There are 80 male restroom with urinals, 20 unisex restroom without urinal, then the percentage of male use urinals is 80%.

Hello Cathy,
It is reasonable to calculate this based on the total # of restrooms with urinals vs. restrooms without. However, it is also reasonable to provide a calculation based on the # of actual fixtures; how many total urinals are within those 80 restrooms vs. the 20 unisex without.
Hope this helps!

Hi Carlie, LEED experts,
I have the same problem to adjust daily uses for restroom without urinal. My project is a mixed use building, mainly office but has a few retail and restaurant spaces. The total restrooms are 27 and only 2 restrooms without urinal. So I assume 93% male can access urinal, 7% male will use toilet instead of urinal. I would like to ask will this percentage apply for FTE office only or also for FTE and visitor/customer in retail, restaurant?. Another question is while 7% of FTE male will have adjustment of 3 uses toilet per day (adjusted from 1). What about uses per day for 7% male of Visitor and customer? Is there any adjustment from the default 0.1? Thank you for your advice.

Hello Hieu,
It’s unclear if the 2 restrooms without urinals are within the office portion of the project, or within the retail/restaurant spaces; the percentage of males occupants expected to use these restrooms (FTE and/or visitors) should apply to the applicable occupant group(s).
