Access Panel in Hard Lid Ceiling

Our janitor rooms do not have deck-to deck partitions. Our question is, if we were to install a gypsum ceiling and include access panels, would there be a special sealing or gasketing requirement to maintain the hard lid ceiling requirement. Any assistance is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ralph, I haven't heard of such a requirement. Generally, the LEED Reviewers don't dig down to that level. Either way, it shouldn't matter if the space isn't sealed perfectly tight because you will be keeping the space negatively pressurized at all times. Thus no air will be leaking out.
