Hi all,
My project is part of a campus where the owner is building a garage along with our project. Between the garage and the building is some landscaping and walking paths, and the garage entrance to functional entry is 126'. How strict is LEED about this 100' distance if the owner owns both buildings and there is a clear walking path, on the owner's campus, between the two? the garage will have a large bike storage area to accomodate the building occupants, yet it is just slightly further than 100 feet. I have a hard time understanding this strict requirement in this situation since it is just not feasible to move the garage any closer to the building. There is existing landscape, patio space, and pedestrian areas between the adjacent buildings and the garage is part of this campus in a suburban environment.
Thank you!

Hi Rita, I can't find anything that suggests the 100 foot requirement can be extended. I think this is a case where USGBC needed to establish a clear cut-off so they can apply the requirement consistently across all projects and scenarios, and some buildings just wont be able to meet it.
