Allen Kachel
BIO
Over my long and rewarding career, I have led the planning, programming, and design of a wide variety of project typologies with clients ranging from small not-for-profit organizations to major corporate and academic institutions. During that time, my inclusive approach to managing diverse project teams and client user groups has led to creating powerful connections through my work – connections between the constructed and natural environments, individuals to their history and culture, people to nature, people to new opportunities, and perhaps most importantly, people to each other.
Along with developing these strong and lasting connections, I am personally and professionally committed to creating a more sustainable and just future, recognizing that as architects and global citizens we must approach design with a comprehensive mindset that focuses on energy reduction, material conservation, preservation of our finite natural resources and ecosystems, occupant well-being, and equity. This passion to explore and celebrate the interrelationship between people, nature, and our built environment drives me to create humane and memorable architecture that is both environmentally and socially responsible.
As a leader in Bohlin Cywinski Jackson’s Sustainability group, I am actively engaged in maintaining our AIA 2030 DDX Portfolio, as well as updating our Sustainability Action Plan and Design Process to amplify our impact, enhance our culture, and make our process even more intentional and repeatable.
