Shannon Bunsen

Shannon Bunsen is Sustainability Project Manager at Mazzetti, global provider of healthcare engineering and technology consulting. In addition to sustainability, she manages the organization’s wellness program and responsibilities as a benefit corporation. She is also Executive Director of the Sextant Foundation, a nonprofit that does clean energy and water projects in limited-resource settings around the world.

Shannon facilitates research and policy efforts, as well as peer-to-peer learning networks, to help drive the healthcare industry towards more sustainable outcomes. She has written for built environment and medical journals, and spoken at local and international events, on topics such as behavior change and anesthetic agent emissions reduction.

She currently serves as co-chair for the AIA Seattle Committee on the Environment, and volunteers on ASHE’s Energy to Care Task Force. She was named a 2017 Emerging Leader by the Design Futures Council and a 2015 Badger Bioneer by Sustain Dane.

Before moving to Seattle, Shannon was the University of Wisconsin Health’s first sustainability leader – a position she created. In this role, she embedded sustainability into the organization’s mission, culture, and operating budget, developing a system-wide program from the ground up.
