BIO

Joseph Porrovecchio: a certified carbon reduction manager (CRM) and LEED Accredited Professional, Joseph is a founding member of Carbon-Key, LLC and retired Army Corps of Engineers Officer. He holds a BS in Physics and Master’s in Environmental Engineering; he is a USGBC NJ Chapter board member and NY City Post SAME board advisor and Fellow. In addition to 40 years of experience as an environmental engineer and health physicist, he taught graduate and undergraduate level courses focusing on sustainability and carbon abatement. After returning from deployment in Afghanistan and working on Katrina Recovery, he was Capital Programs-Project Manager and Sustainability Coordinator at Ramapo College. He was on the LEED Team for NJ Meadowland Platinum level Observatory and New Classroom Building; Project Administer for the Gold level (pending) Prestige Mini car dealership and; LEED consultant for multiple projects. He is Ower's representative for energy management for a portfolio of 23 class B buildings in NY and NJ. Over the years, he designed, built and facilitated implementation of security systems for military, law enforcement, nuclear electric generating stations and chemical facilities. He continues to train first responders and is Rockland County (deputy) Sheriff anti-terror-analytical-group (ATAG) member.
