Alfonso is an award-winning Green Building Design Consultant with 21 years of international experience in the design, management, construction and leadership of multi-disciplinary green building projects, from concept design to construction.

With a dual professional chartership, in Architecture and in Building Services Engineering, Alfonso has been involved in more than 95 large sustainable building developments in the UK, Continental Europe, America, China and the Middle East, taking leading and executive management roles while working closely with renowned architecture practices and engineering firms such as Arup, Foster and Partners, SOM, KPF, WilkinsonEyre, Zaha Hadid Architects and others. His forward-thinking research work on green building materials has received a number of awards as well as the official endorsement of the U.S Green Building Council and the New York based International WELL Building Institute, two of the world’s leading authorities of the green building industry.

In 2014, Alfonso launched Ongreening.com, a knowledge exchange web platform aimed at accelerating the dissemination of the best sustainable building practices across the industry sector and beyond.

Prior to establishing Ongreening, Alfonso served as a Sustainability Team Leader at Arup and member of Arup Italia Board Leadership. He also worked for Meinhardt as a building sustainability technical director, and other leading consultancy firms in Europe and the Middle East. In 2010, he was the site-wide Technical Director at the King Abdullah Financial District construction site in Riyadh, a 1,6million m2 world-class sustainable development.

Alfonso has been also actively involved in teaching sustainable design and building physics at UG, Diploma and Master’s levels over the last 21 years. He regularly collaborates with leading universities and educational centres in Europe. Since 2005, he is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at University of East London. In 2012-2015 he was appointed as a Professor in Sustainable Building Design at the Polytechnic of Milan.

Alfonso is regularly invited as a keynote speaker at conferences and seminars on green building in Europe and overseas.
