BIO

Jeff Forward is the Principal for Forward Thinking Consultants, LLC a firm specializing in renewable energy and energy efficiency program design and implementation. Mr. Forward worked for the Vermont Department of Public Service for seven years in the 1990’s where he helped write the state’s first Comprehensive Energy Plan and was the lead agency staff person developing energy efficiency building codes. In 1997 he formed a consulting firm that worked primarily on energy code and renewable energy program implementation. From 2001 – 2005 he joined the Biomass Energy Resource Center where he managed their School Wood Energy and Farm Methane programs. In 2005 he reinstituted his consulting business and is working with local, state and federal agencies to help them design and implement renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives.

Locally, Mr. Forward was a founding member of the Richmond Land Trust and has been the Town Energy Coordinator for the Town of Richmond, Vermont since 1992. He served on the Mount Mansfield Union School Board from 2000 - 2011. Mr. Forward has a Community Planning Degree from the Woodbury Institute in Burlington, Vermont. In 2011, Mr. Forward installed a 25 kW group net-metered solar PV system on his farm in Richmond. He is currently chair of Renewable Energy Vermont, the trade association for renewable energy in Vermont.
