Following Option 2 of this credit, is it acceptable that sampling areas of the building are tested once construction has finished in that area even if construction has not finished in other parts of the building? I.e. can the testing be completed in phases?

I asked this question for one of my projects and got the following response from LEED Coach:
"Yes, it is acceptable to perform a flush out or air testing in each phase of the project as it is completed but before it is occupied, as long as each phase is served by a discrete HVAC system that operates independently, as stated in Step 3 of the Step by Step Guidance mentioned in your email. Although not explicitly stated, that guidance also applies to air testing.
If the project team implements phased flush out or testing, then they should provide a narrative describing the measures implemented to prevent contamination of the completed and occupied spaces (i.e. pathway interruption) between phases, as described in IEQc Construction indoor air quality management plan."
