FSC Wood is good, but NOT the ONLY one!General forumsposted by Ward Miller on Mar 2, 2012, 3:36 amLEEDuser Basic Member 1297 thumbs up March 20, 2012- 5:22 pm I agree we both of you. I want to uphold a high standard for wood products but I think there is a lot more than just FSC, which deserves to be recognized. PEFC isn't perfect but in many European countries, which have a lot more laws around forestry and environmental protection of ecosystems, it is at least as good as FSC. To Ward's point... I've done lots of healthcare projects- mostly LEED, a few not (GGHC-focused)- and while meeting the requirements in this prereq can certainly help, they are not absolutely necessary to achieve a great green... Rainwater Harvesting? (Rainwater Management Credit)General forumsposted by Melissa Wrolstad on Mar 16, 2012, 5:50 pmSusann Geithner Principal Emerald Built Environments LEEDuser Basic Member 1297 thumbs up March 20, 2012- 4:37 pm To your point, what exactly is a "Low impact development"? I was think this through with a project I finished last year. Almost zero lot line development with an underground infiltration system handling 100% of the rain water, no discharge. It's a rigole, a plastic pipe system, which a lot of times is installed underneath parking areas and always in combination with filters. I think I would get zero points for that, because its not a low impact measure, which I can't... Last reply: Scott Bowman, Mar 23, 2012, 11:30 am |

4th Comment DraftGeneral forumsposted by Rob Watson on Mar 25, 2012, 7:53 pmpractitioners, especially those in government positions, are not able to allocate any time on the job to give careful consideration to these important proposals for change. It takes a lot of time, which can consume nights and weekends. I'd guess there are a lot of people who get started and then decide they can't do a good job of it, so they do nothing, which does not help us produce a practical... Showers in a recreation centerNC-2009 WEp1: Water Use Reductionposted by Susan Di Giulio on Jan 3, 2012, 8:11 pmWe are working on a recreation center with a gym and several pools. Therefore the impact of the efficient showers is virtually lost. Is there any way around this? WEp1 ... Last reply: Ralf Lehmann, Mar 16, 2012, 8:14 am |
