My building has 80 AHUs providing ventilation to building spaces. Do I have to do the ventilation calculations and conduct outdoor air measurements for each one?

You may not have to do the calculations for each of the systems. If all or some of the systems have similar parameters, sampling of the systems is allowed. Here’s a list of the parameters that must be similar for the systems to conduct a sample.

  • Constant volume or variable air volume
  • Single-zone or multizone
  • Occupancy per unit floor area for area served by the system
  • Primary space function served by the system
  • Minimum outdoor air setpoints

If your systems are similar for each of the above aspects, calculations and measurements may be conducted for a minimum of 3 or 10% of the total systems (whichever is greater). See more details in the LEED Reference Guide for requirements, including protocols if any of the sampled systems should fail to meet the minimum prerequisite requirements.
